The breakfast offered some good options, allowing us to choose what we wanted to eat. It was satisfying after a night of travel.
The room lacked proper upkeep, showing significant water damage and even growing mushrooms in the shower area. Breakfast had to be pre-ordered the day before, limiting flexibility in the morning. Checking in was chaotic—no reception was visible, and receiving a room with two single beds instead of the booked double felt disorganized.

It was just a solid selection for an overnight stay in Thurso with attractive and competitive value for money. The staff onsite were friendly and helpful, which made the experience more enjoyable. Make sure to confirm your breakfast choices in advance to avoid morning rush.

The historic charm of the Manor House caught my attention immediately. The lamb curry served in the restaurant blew me away—it was super flavorful! The staff, especially the owners, exhibited kindness that made me feel at home. However, the building was surrounded by scaffolding, which I wasn't aware of prior to my stay. The room itself felt very cramped and could really use some TLC. It was difficult to use the toilet with the odd sink combination. Unfortunately, cleanliness seemed to be lacking as there was dust from ongoing renovations everywhere. Moreover, the TV was non-functional, and when I reported it, the manager's response was underwhelming and somewhat rude. Overall, while the food was amazing, improvements in room maintenance and guest communication are definitely needed.

The location was convenient for the bus and train station.
Unfortunately, my experience at Manor House Hotel was quite disappointing. The room we stayed in was cramped and had a distinct lack of surfaces for our belongings, which made it challenging to feel comfortable. Additionally, the bathroom was poorly designed, making basic tasks difficult, and cleanliness seemed to be overlooked as we noticed some dust and residue. Overall, it felt more like an outdated establishment than a welcoming stay.

Solo traveler must-visit
I had a great time, the food was AMAZING! The cooked breakfast was delicious, they even had soya milk for my morning coffee, which was a nice touch.
It wasn’t exactly budget-friendly, but still reasonable.

Delicious food and warm hosts
I had a nice one-night stay where Leo and Mary Ellen went above and beyond, packing us sandwiches for our early train ride. The fish and chips I had for dinner were incredibly good, and breakfast was an excellent full Scottish spread the next morning. However, the room got quite warm at night, and I found the ensuite a bit snug.
